In a historic development, Master Changan Motors Ltd (MCML) has become the first company to export 14 Oshan X7 SUVs manufactured in Pakistan to Kenya. The event marks a significant milestone, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), showcasing the robust economic cooperation between the two nations.

Deepening Economic Ties with Kenya and Tanzania

MCML’s Chief Executive Officer, Danial Malik, announced the successful export at a ceremony held at the Port Qasim plant. Emphasizing Kenya and Tanzania as strategic markets, Malik expressed MCML’s commitment to expanding export volumes and leaving a lasting impact on these African nations.

Changan Automobile’s Global Investment Plans

Changan Automobile China, the parent company of MCML, is poised to invest $10 billion in the global market. With a focus on intelligent low-carbon core technology, Changan aims to enhance its global footprint, targeting Europe, America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and CIS to enter 90% of the global markets by 2030.

Master Changan Pakistan’s Role in Global Expansion

As Changan’s right-hand drive (RHD) manufacturing hub, Master Changan Pakistan assumes a pivotal role in the company’s ‘Vast Ocean’ plan. This initiative aims to cater to RHD markets worldwide, reinforcing the importance of Pakistan in Changan’s global strategy.

Government Policies and Auto Industry Growth

CEO Danial Malik highlighted the crucial role of government policies in promoting and incentivizing the automotive industry, particularly in facilitating exports. Acknowledging the industry’s proposals submitted to the government, Malik emphasized the need for policies that enhance local volumes, deepen localization efforts and foster global competitiveness.

Transformative Shifts in Pakistani Automotive Exports

The export achievements of Master Changan Motors align with broader efforts within the Pakistani automotive sector. Pak Suzuki Motor Company Ltd (PSMCL) and Indus Motor Company (IMC) are also actively working on expanding their export capabilities, reflecting a transformative shift in the industry’s approach to the global supply chain.

Conclusion

Master Changan Motors’ successful export of Made-in-Pakistan SUVs to Kenya and Tanzania signifies a new era in the country’s automotive industry. With a focus on global expansion, strategic investments, and collaborative efforts, Pakistani automakers are poised to strengthen their presence in international markets, contributing to the nation’s economic growth and global standing.
